Bank Shut For 14 Days, Check The full List Here

The Reserve Bank of India has unveiled the schedule of bank holidays for April. According to the RBI’s holiday calendar, banks will not operate for a total of 14 days this month.

These closures encompass various types of holidays, including public holidays, regional holidays, and the routine closure on the second and fourth Saturdays, along with all Sundays. During state-specific festivals, banks will only be closed in the respective states, while national festivals such as Id-Ul-Fitr, Ram Navami, and Baisakhi will result in nationwide bank closures.

The RBI regularly prepares a list of holidays for each month, which falls under three categories: Negotiable Instruments Act Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

List of the days when the bank is shut: 

On April 1st (Monday), banks will be closed in most states for the annual closing of accounts, with exceptions in Mizoram, Chandigarh, Sikkim, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya.

April 5th (Friday) will see banks closed for Babu Jagjivan Ram’s Birthday and Jumat-ul-Vida in Telangana, Jammu, and Srinagar.

On April 9th (Tuesday), banks will be closed for Gudhi Padwa/Ugadi Festival/Telugu New Year’s Day/Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba)/1st Navratra in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad – Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad – Telangana, Manipur, Goa, Jammu, and Srinagar.

April 10th (Wednesday) marks the closure of banks for Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr) in Kerala.

April 11th (Thursday) will see banks closed for Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr) (1st Shawaal) in most states except Chandigarh, Gangtok, Kochi, Shimla, and Thiruvananthapuram.

Banks will remain closed on April 13th (Saturday) for Bohag Bihu/Cheiraoba/Baisakhi/Biju Festival in Agartala, Guwahati, Imphal, Jammu, and Srinagar.

April 15th (Monday) will observe bank closures for Bohag Bihu/Himachal Day in Guwahati and Shimla.

On April 17th (Tuesday), banks will be closed for Shree Ram Navami (Chaite Dasain) in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh.

April 20th (Saturday) will see banks closed for Garia Puja in Agartala.

It is advisable to plan your banking activities accordingly. It’s important to note that services like online banking and UPI will remain unaffected despite the branch closures during these holidays.
