The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is being led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, featured vibrant processions on Saturday as it moved through the Haryana city of Karnal.
People could be seen dancing and waving the national anthem. Along with a drum march, supporters were also visible brandishing yatra posters.
Despite the chilly wave conditions and thick fog that were present throughout North India, especially Haryana, the fans appeared to be quite enthused and energetic.
Congress leader Selja Kumari on Friday discussed the Yatra saying “As they look to Rahul Gandhi for their future, the people of Haryana are really enthusiastic. Rahul Gandhi will serve as an inspiration for Congress’s efforts in Haryana.”
“The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is concerned because what began as a Yatra has evolved into a Jan Aandolan,” the Congress leader stated in a stinging assault.
Rahul Gandhi, former president of the Congress, has been in charge of the Bharat Jodo Yatra since it began last year in Kanyakumari.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra will go across four districts of Haryana between January 5 and 10. It returned to the state on Thursday evening.
Earlier on Friday, the yatra recommenced from the Sanoli-Panipat route in Haryana.
The Yatra has so far travelled through sections of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Haryana since it began on September 7 in Kanyakumari. Jammu and Kashmir will serve as its climax.
