A jeep driver, Santosh Singh, was shot in the stomach by armed assailants while returning from a tilak ceremony with 14–15 passengers on the nights of Wednesday and Thursday in Bihar. Despite his injuries, Singh drove several kilometers to ensure the safety of his passengers.
According to the police, two armed men on motorcycles chased the Jeep and opened fire on the vehicle, hitting Singh. Despite intense pain and heavy bleeding, Singh managed to drive the vehicle to a safer location. The passengers later alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and took Singh to a hospital in Ara.
Doctors performed surgery to remove the bullet and repair severe intestinal damage. Singh is now in stable condition but remains under observation for further recovery.
An FIR has been registered, and the police have launched a manhunt for the attackers. Initial investigations revealed that other vehicles in the convoy were also targeted by the miscreants. A forensic team and district intelligence unit are assisting in the case, and sketches of the suspects have been shared with local residents to aid identification.
The police stated that Singh’s family has no known enmity with anyone. Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
