Billionaire Industrialist Yohan Poonawalla And Wife Michelle Buy New 30,000 Sq. Ft House Worth Rs 500 Crore

Billionaire industrialist Yohan Poonawalla and his wife Michelle have acquired a 30,000 sq ft standalone property in South Mumbai’s Cuffe Parade area for over ₹500 crore,
This expansive mansion, one of the most expensive residential purchases in recent times, will be converted into their secondary residence and named ‘Poonawalla Mansion,’ according to a report by ET.

Yohan Poonawalla, who chairs the Poonawalla Engineering Group and serves as a director at Poonawalla Stud Farms and Poonawalla Racing and Breeding, hails from a prominent business family.

His father, Zavaray Poonawalla, co-founded the Serum Institute of India, a leading vaccine producer. The Poonawalla family is also known for owning one of Asia’s largest stud farms.

Michelle Poonawalla, the Managing Director of the Poonawalla Engineering Companies, is a businesswoman and designer. Her firm, MYP Design Studio, will oversee the transformation of their newly purchased property into ‘Poonawalla Mansion.’

The mansion boasts a spacious design with expansive terraces and multiple floors, ensuring privacy and exclusivity. This luxurious setting will serve as a perfect showcase for the couple’s extensive art collection.

Part of the residence will be turned into a private art gallery featuring Michelle Poonawalla’s distinctive oil paintings and other valuable pieces. Additionally, a curated selection of Yohan Poonawalla’s automobile collection will be displayed within the mansion.

South Mumbai has seen a recent surge in high-profile property purchases. Cricketers Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Yuvraj Singh have all made significant investments in the area.

Virat Kohli bought a luxury apartment in the ‘Omkar 1973’ project in Worli for ₹34 crore, while Rohit Sharma acquired a ₹30 crore property at Ahuja Towers in the same neighborhood. Yuvraj Singh also purchased a ₹64 crore property in the area.

Film producer and director Dinesh Vijan recently joined the ranks of celebrity property owners in South Mumbai by purchasing a 9,000 sq ft residential property.

Other notable deals include Suhana Khan’s acquisition of 1.5 acres of agricultural land in Alibag for ₹12.91 crore and Alia Bhatt’s production house purchasing a 2,497 sq ft apartment in Bandra for ₹37.80 crore.
