BJP alliance likely to return in Tripura, Nagaland; trailing in Meghalaya

According to the current trends following the early rounds of voting in these two Northeast states, the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies — IPFT and NDPP — were set to retain power in Tripura and Nagaland.

Manik Saha, the Chief Minister, defeated Congress’ Asish Kumar Saha in the Town Bordowali seat by a margin of 1,257 votes.

The CPI(M) and the Congress, bitter adversaries in Kerala, joined forces in the Northeast this time to depose the BJP.

According to the latest trends, the CPI(M) won one seat and was leading in ten, while the Congress won one seat and was leading in two.

The Tipra Motha Party, which was expected to be the kingmaker in the case of a hung Assembly, gained eight seats and was ahead in four.
