BJP chief Nadda files his nomination as Rajya Sabha candidate from Gujarat

JP Nadda, national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, submitted his nomination on Thursday to represent Gujarat in the Rajya Sabha. In front of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupinder Patel and other state party officials, Nadda submitted his nomination. Nadda represents Himachal Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha at the moment. The Bharatiya Janata Party has nominated four candidates from Gujarat for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections. The BJP has fielded three other Gujarati leaders, Govindbhai Dholakia, Mayankbhai Nayak, and Jashvantsinh Parmar, in addition to Nadda.

Furthermore, the BJP declared that it would be fielding Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw from Odisha and L Murugan from Madhya Pradesh in the next elections. The party announced 14 candidates earlier this week for the Rajya Sabha elections, among them were party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi and former Union Minister RPN Singh. Nomination papers for the RS polls must be submitted by today. February 27 is the date set by the Election Commission for the Rajya Sabha elections in 15 states, including Uttar Pradesh. On this date, voting will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nominations must be submitted by February 15th.

The results of the elections will be announced on the same day, February 27.
The Election Commission announced the biennial Rajya Sabha polls for 56 seats, as the tenure of incumbents ends in April.
