Two committees for the 2018 Assembly elections in Rajasthan were announced by the state’s BJP party on 17 August. The Rajasthan election management committee and the state BJP unit’s election manifesto committee have both been formed, according to the BJP.
The state manifesto committee for the BJP in Rajasthan will be led by Lok Sabha MP Arjun Ram Meghwal, with Lal Meena, Alka Gurjar, Ravi Rajendra Singh, Subhash Maurya, Prabhu Lal Saini, and Rakhi Rathore serving as co-conveners.
The Rajasthan BJP’s state election management committee will have six coordinators, with Narayan Pancharya serving as the coordinator.
The former chief minister of Rajasthan and vice president of the BJP, Vasundhara Raje, was not mentioned by either committee.
Union Minister and Rajasthan election in-charge Prahlad Joshi, while responding to a question regarding the absence of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in the two committees, said that “Vasundhara Raje is our much esteemed leader. We have involved her in many programs and will continue to do so in the future.”
Rajasthan will vote later this year, with the BJP and the ruling Congress embroiled in a direct contest. In the 200-member legislature in 2018, the BJP got 73 seats, while the Congress won 99 seats. The BSP and Independents helped the Congress, under Ashok Gehlot, create the government.
