BJP MP Nishikant Dubey seeks termination of Rahul Gandhi

BJP people are constantly attacking Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in Cambridge University. Now senior BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has demanded the abolition of the Lok Sabha membership of Rahul Gandhi. On Friday, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey appeared before the Lok Sabha Privileges Committee and demanded the termination of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership.

MP Nishikant Dubey sought a Privilege Motion against Rahul Gandhi for making “misleading, defamatory, unparliamentary and objectionable” statements during the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address.

Lok Sabha MP Sunil Singh had asked Nishikant Dubey to appear before the committee as a witness. Besides panel head Sunil Singh, other members of the committee present today include TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee, Congress’s K.K. Suresh, CP Joshi, Dilip Ghosh, Raju Bista and BJP’s Ganesh Singh.

According to sources, DMK MP T.R. Baalu was not present before the committee today but has written to the panel that there is no privilege to argue against Rahul. In his argument on this issue, Nishikant Dubey said that even though the debate was in the motion of thanks to the President’s address, Rahul Gandhi’s reply was largely about Gautam Adani, and in fact, Adani was mentioned by Rahul Gandhi in his speech at least 75 times.

Further, the MP from Jharkhand presented his case saying that three privilege notices needed to be brought against Rahul Gandhi. Sources said he said that under the first rule 352(2), an MP can comment on a fellow MP only with prior notice and without the approval of the Speaker. Rahul violated it by commenting on PM Modi.

Second, Nishikant Dubey also referred to the incident of 1976 when Subramanian Swamy was dismissed from the Rajya Sabha – when allegations were made against the Parliament and the PM. Nishikant Dubey said that even now, the situation is the same – criticizing the conduct of the Prime Minister is weakening democracy.

Third, sources said Nishikant Dubey certified that Rahul Gandhi’s speech had been deleted, but when he checked on social media, Gandhi’s handles on Twitter and YouTube channels still had the deleted speech and tweets. It undermines the authority and discretion of the Speaker himself.

Sources said that Dubey said, “undermining the authority and position of any leader or head of state amounts to compromising the national interest.”

Sources said that Nishikant Dubey gave another argument: Rahul Gandhi’s allegations on Adani projects listed in Israel and Bangladesh are against India’s interest. Nishikant Dubey also certified the power plant agreement between India and Bangladesh in 2011 between Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said that the argument made by congress that the Adani group got the power plant in Bangladesh during the Modi regime is a lie. Sources said, “Hence Nishikant Dubey, through his privilege motion, demanded termination of Lok Sabha membership of Rahul Gandhi.” In the coming days, the panel may ask Rahul Gandhi to appear before it in connection with the privilege motion.
