BJP’s Shehzad Poonawalla: TMC stands for ‘Talibani Mindset and Culture’

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the Trinamool Congress, the ruling party in West Bengal, following an attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team in North 24 Paragana district. The BJP labeled the TMC as having a ‘Talibani Mindset and Culture.’ BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla cited Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s confirmation of the TMC’s ‘Talibani Mindset and Culture’ and urged clarity from the Congress central leadership on its alliance with the TMC.

Poonawalla questioned the Congress party’s stance, highlighting the contradiction between its alliance with the TMC and Chowdhury’s concern about the peril to democracy in West Bengal. The attack on the ED team occurred during a raid on TMC leaders’ residences in connection with an alleged ration scam. Two ED officials sustained injuries during the incident.

Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh attributed the attack to provocation and accused the Central agency of working against his party’s leader on behalf of the BJP. However, Congress, a partner of the TMC in the INDIA bloc, criticized the ruling party, with state chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Bengal. Chowdhury called for the immediate imposition of President’s Rule, citing the attack on ED officials as evidence of the absence of law and order under TMC rule.
