Boxer Vijender Singh’s Cryptic Post Fuels Speculation Over Mathura Lok Sabha Candidacy

Amidst rumors of Congress considering Vijender Singh as a potential candidate against Hema Malini in Mathura, the boxer posted a cryptic message on Saturday. Singh’s enigmatic tweet, “Wherever the public wants, I am ready,” has sparked speculation about his electoral aspirations. Hema Malini, contesting from Mathura on a BJP ticket for the third time, has established a stronghold in the constituency since 2014.

Vijender Singh, who joined Congress in 2019, previously contested from South Delhi but faced defeat. Despite this, Singh remains active in political circles, participating in various events, including Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

I would like to accept this opportunity & thank INC India party, Rahul Gandhi ji and Priyanka Gandhi ji for this responsibility,” Vijender Singh wrote as he joined the Congress.

However, Vijender Singh was observed participating in the wrestlers’ demonstration against Brij Bhushan Singh, the former head of the Wrestling Federation of India. Notably, Singh’s political future became uncertain in December 2023 when he posted a cryptic farewell message to politics ‘Rajneeti ko ram-ram bhai’.

Vijender Singh, an Olympic medalist, has had a distinguished boxing career, earning accolades such as the Padma Shri. Although embroiled in a drugs controversy in 2012, he was subsequently cleared of all charges.
