BRS Calls Upon Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to Provide Compensation for Farmer’s Crop Loss

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) senior leaders’ delegation convened with State Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari at the Secretariat, submitting a memorandum highlighting farmers’ grievances and urging compensation for crop losses, along with a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for every crop.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, dated April 2, BRS emphasized the urgency of supporting farmers in the state, stressing the need for immediate action to address their concerns.

The memorandum urged the government to provide compensation to affected farmers at a rate of Rs. 25,000 per acre and fulfill its promise of a Rs. 500 per quintal bonus for the ongoing Yasangi crop. Additionally, it called for the immediate waiver of loans up to Rs. 2 lakh and full implementation of the Rythu Bharosa scheme, ensuring assistance to all farmers, including tenant farmers and laborers.

BRS reiterated its persistent efforts in urging the government to tackle the pressing issues confronting Telangana’s farmers and extend necessary support to them. Despite these efforts, challenges persist, exacerbated by inadequate water management, insufficient irrigation facilities, and a lack of quality education for farmers.

The letter underscored the dire consequences of deficient water allocation through canals and unreliable electricity supply, leading to crop failure and distress among farmers. An estimated 20 lakh acres of paddy fields have been adversely affected, resulting in widespread crop damage.

To address these challenges, BRS called for the establishment of village-wise grain purchase centers promptly and efforts to procure all produce brought in by farmers. Additionally, it urged the government to mitigate yield reduction in the upcoming Asanggi crop by providing adequate water resources and additional support.

BRS appealed to the state government to prioritize the welfare of farmers by swiftly implementing these measures, warning that failure to act decisively will exacerbate the plight of the agricultural community.

The memorandum concluded with a reaffirmation of trust in the leadership and commitment of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to address the critical issues affecting Telangana’s farmers.
