BRS workers, Hyderabad mayor protest against Telangana BJP chief comments against K Kavitha

Workers from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Vijayalaxmi Gadwal protested against Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chairman Bandi Sanjay on Saturday for his statements against BRS MLC K Kavitha.

In response, Bandi Sanjay’s office stated that the BJP leader’s comment is a typical Telugu word that signifies whether you would applaud or punish someone who commits a crime.

“Some statements made by Bandi Sanjay about 3 days ago are being blown out of proportion. This is a common phrase used in the Telugu language which means if someone does a crime, would you appreciate or punish,” the office of Telangana BJP president said in a statement.

According to the statement, this is a diversionary effort to foment discontent in the state because the CM’s daughter has been called by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under Delhi Excise policy. Interestingly, the ED is questioning K Kavitha in the liquor policy case today in Delhi.

“BRS, which is well aware of the dialect, is deliberately portraying it as an insult to a woman’s modesty. This is a diversion tactic to create unrest in the state as CM’s daughter is summoned by ED in Delhi Excise policy,” the statement added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the BJP’s Telangana president slammed Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha for declaring that the people of the state will not submit to Delhi authorities.

On the sidelines of an event marking International Women’s Day at the state BJP headquarters on Wednesday, Sanjay asked the MLC what Telangana had to do with the suspected Delhi liquor policy scandal.

“Did Kavitha indulge in an illegal liquor deal for the sake of the Telangana people? Is that ill-gotten money being spent on crop loan waivers or payment of salaries to employees or towards unemployment allowance?” Sanjay asked.

He said that while the people of Telangana had never had reason to be ashamed, they were now obliged to do so due to Kavitha’s suspected participation in the liquor policy issue.

“Kavitha’s wicket is down in the liquor scam and very soon several more in the BRS will be clean bowled. There is no question of sparing those involved in the liquor scam and gambling activities,” Sanjay said.

The BJP state president went on to say that under the KCR government, women in Telangana were exposed to insults and humiliation. He accused KCR of not treating women with dignity.
