BSF Jawan Injured as Pak Rangers Open Fire Along International Border in J&K

Late Wednesday night, an incident occurred along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, where a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan suffered gunshot injuries due to ceasefire violations by Pakistan Rangers in the Ramgarh and Arnia sectors. The injured jawan received initial medical care at the Community Health Centre Ramgarh before being transferred to a Military hospital for further treatment.

Medical personnel at the Community Health Centre Ramgarh confirmed that a 28-year-old BSF jawan with a gunshot wound was brought to the facility around 1 a.m. He was promptly provided with first aid and then shifted to a Military hospital. Dr. Shamshad, speaking to ANI, mentioned that medical teams swiftly responded to the situation upon receiving the information.

The BSF in Jammu issued a statement, noting that they responded effectively to the ceasefire violation and unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers on their posts in the Ramgarh area during the night of November 8-9, 2023.

A local eyewitness reported a significant exchange of fire between the BSF troopers and Pakistan Rangers around 2-2.30 a.m. The local population understandably reacted with concern and remained indoors during the unprovoked firing. Notably, this incident marked the first such firing exchange in the region in the past 4-5 years.

In a separate development, in the early hours of Thursday, a terrorist affiliated with the banned terrorist group, The Resistance Front (TRF), was neutralized in the Kathohalan area of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. The Kashmir Zone Police reported the recovery of incriminating materials, including weapons and ammunition, from the terrorist’s possession as part of their ongoing search operation.

The situation is evolving, and further updates may follow.
