Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, said on Wednesday that the Union Budget 2023 would move India forward in terms of poor welfare.
“New India rising under the leadership of PM Modi. My best wishes to PM Modi and FM Nirmala Sitharaman for the presentation of the Union Budget 2023. Under PM Modi’s leadership, a prosperous, powerful India is being built and our resolution is the welfare of the poor. Budget will take India ahead in this direction,” he said.
Prior to the Budget announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a cabinet meeting in Parliament. Sitharaman began her Budget speech in Lok Sabha at 11 a.m. Union Budget 2023-24, like the previous two Union Budgets, is presented paperless.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, state ministers Pankaj Chaudhary and Bhagwat Karad, and Finance Secretary TV Somanathan all paid a visit to President Droupadi Murmu. As is customary, the Finance Minister met with the President in the Rashtrapati Bhawan before proceeding to Parliament to announce the Union Budget. Sitharaman is presenting her sixth budget.
This year’s Budget is significant since the country’s next Lok Sabha election is expected for April-May 2024. The budget session of Parliament opened on Tuesday with the President’s address, which was followed by the postponement of the Economic Survey for 2022-23.
On October 10, the formal process of preparing the annual Budget for the next fiscal year (2023-24) began. According to the Economic Survey, India’s GDP is predicted to rise by 6 to 6.8 percent in fiscal year 2023-24. This compares to a projected 7.7 percent this fiscal year and 8.7 percent in 2021-22.
