The Union Cabinet in a meeting held on Wednesday granted its approval for a four per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners. The decision was communicated by Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur during a briefing for reporters, outlining that the increase would take effect from July 1 of the current year.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur stated, “A four percent increase in Dearness Allowance for Central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners has been sanctioned. The enhanced DA will be put into practice starting from July 1, 2023.” This decision is anticipated to positively impact a substantial number of beneficiaries, with 48.67 lakh Central Government Employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners set to benefit.
He emphasized that this announcement comes at a time coinciding with the festival season, thus bringing additional cheer to both Central government employees and pensioners.
