The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charged former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and four others in the Delhi excise policy case on Tuesday. The supplemental chargesheet was submitted under IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), and various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, according to reports.
An official stated that the supplemental chargesheet in the Delhi excise policy case has been filed against former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Amandeep Singh Dhall, Arjun Pandey, and Butchi Babu Gorantla.
The CBI claimed in its first chargesheet in the case that suspect Abhishek Boinpally prepared for roughly Rs 20-30 crore to be paid to Vijay Nair in cash between July and September 2021 at the request of South Group. Allegations have also been made that Sisodia personally interfered to get Mahendru-promoted Indo Spirit’s application processed after inconsistencies were initially highlighted.
Arava Gopi Krishna, a former Excise Commissioner, is also named as a suspect in column 12 of the chargesheet. The court noted that two of the four accused, Manish Sisodia and Amandeep Dhall, are currently in Judicial custody. Butchibabu has been granted bail in the case until March 6, 2023. The prosecution never arrested Arjun Pandey in the case, it was stated.
