Celebration at BJP HQ as Women’s Reservation Bill Clears Rajya Sabha

Following the successful passage of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ (Women’s Reservation Bill) in the Rajya Sabha, the BJP Mahila Morcha in the national capital is preparing to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival at the BJP Headquarters on Friday. Images from the scene capture women rejoicing and dancing in celebration of this historic milestone.

One participant, Alina, expressed her appreciation for Prime Minister Modi’s dedication to the women of the nation and her hope that he will continue this crucial work. She stated, “PM Modi is doing really good work and he treats all the women as equal, he respects them and does not discriminate. We hope that he continues to work like this for all women.”

The bill, which provides for 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies, was unanimously passed by the Upper House on Thursday, with 214 members voting in favor and none against.

Another woman at the BJP Headquarters praised PM Modi’s historic efforts for women in the country, highlighting his role as a brother to the women of the nation and commending initiatives like Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, and the abolition of Triple Talaq. She expressed gratitude, saying, “PM Modi has done a historic work which could not be done by any of the other governments…we thank him from the bottom of our hearts, half the population of the country will remain grateful to you (Modi)…He has been a brother to the women of the nation.”

Prior to the bill’s passage, female MPs from various political parties came together to celebrate the historic moment, chanting ‘Modi Modi’ and extending their thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his role in facilitating the bill’s approval. Female members from both Houses of Parliament presented Prime Minister Modi with a bouquet to commemorate the significant achievement.

Subsequently, both Houses of Parliament were adjourned sine die. The bill had previously cleared the legislative test in the Lok Sabha with an overwhelming majority of 454 votes in favor and only 2 against.

Notably, the Rajya Sabha had previously passed the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2010 during the Congress-led UPA government, but it was not taken up in the Lok Sabha and eventually lapsed in the lower House of Parliament.
