The Centre announced on Thursday that the ceasefire arrangement with three Naga tribes would be extended for another year. The National Socialist Council of Nagaland-NK (NSCN-NK), National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R), and National Socialist Council of Nagaland-K-Khango are among the organisations (NSCN-K-Khango). All of these organisations are splinter groups of the NSCN-IM and NSCN-K that have signed ceasefire deals with the government over the years.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said that it has decided to prolong the ceasefire agreements with NSCN/NK and NSCN/R for another year, from April 28, 2023 to April 27, 2024. However, the ceasefire deal with the NSCN/K-Khango runs from April 18, 2023 to April 17, 2024.
“It was decided to extend the Ceasefire Agreements for a further period of one year with effect from April 28, 2023, to April 27, 2024, with NSCN/NK and NSCN/R and from 18th April 2023 to 17th April 2024 with NSCN/K-Khango,” said the MHA.
On Thursday, these agreements were inked.
It further stated that ceasefire agreements between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland/NK (NSCN/NK), National Socialist Council of Nagaland/Reformation (NSCN/R), and National Socialist Council of Nagaland/K-Khango (NSCN/K-Khango) are in effect. The administration also extended the ceasefire agreements with these groups for another year.
