The exam paper will contain approximately 50% competency-based questions, which may include Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), Case-Based Questions, Source-Based Integrated Questions, or other similar types of questions.

A noticeable change in the proportion of competency-based questions for classes 9 to 12 has been implemented in the upcoming academic session of 2023-24, namely, CBSE Evaluation Criteria 2023-24. The increase in competency-based question types, such as Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), Case-Based Questions, Source-Based Integrated Questions, and other creative formats, is one of the significant changes in CBSE Evaluation Criteria 2023-24.

According to the most recent exam pattern for Class 9 and Class 10 board exams, there will be a strong emphasis on competency-based questions. The exam paper will contain approximately 50% competency-based questions, which may include Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), Case-Based Questions, Source-Based Integrated Questions, or other similar types of questions.

These questions are intended to assess the student’s comprehension, critical thinking, and application abilities, rather than simply factual recall. Furthermore, approximately 20% of the questions on the Class 10 board exam paper will be in objective format. The remaining 30% of the questions will be in short-answer or long-answer format, giving students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to express themselves.

Similarly, for Class 12 CBSE Evaluation Criteria 2023-24, competency-based questions will make up a significant portion of the exam, accounting for 40% of total marks. Another 20% of the exam will be made up of objective questions designed to assess students’ factual knowledge, conceptual understanding, and analytical skills. Multiple-choice questions (MCQs), fill-in-the-blanks, and matching-type questions are examples of these types of questions.

The remaining 40% of the exam will consist of short- and long-answer questions.
