Chennai To Face Scheduled Power Cut On February 23 – Key Area Affected

Chennai’s MEPZ area will face a power cut on February 23, 2025, from 9 AM to 2 PM for TANGEDCO maintenance. Residents should plan ahead to avoid inconvenience.

Chennai To Face Scheduled Power Cut On February 23 – Key Area Affected

The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has announced a scheduled power shutdown in Chennai on Sunday, February 23, 2025, due to routine maintenance work. The power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, affecting specific areas. Authorities have assured that electricity will be restored earlier if maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule.

Key Affected Area:

  • MEPZ Industries Campus, Tambaram

TANGEDCO conducts these scheduled power outages as part of its regular maintenance to ensure a stable electricity supply across the city. However, despite these planned shutdowns, unexpected power cuts continue to raise concerns about the reliability of electricity availability.

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), which oversees power generation, transmission, and distribution in the state, was restructured on November 1, 2010, under Section 131 of the Electricity Act, 2003. Following this restructuring, TNEB was divided into TNEB Limited, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO), and Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited (TANTRANSCO).

Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to plan their activities accordingly to avoid disruptions during the scheduled maintenance period.
