Congress leader arrested for assaulting man in MP’s Indore, jailed

A police officer stated on Friday that a Congress leader was arrested and incarcerated in connection with breaking into a man’s house in the Indore district and assaulting him. The incident occurred in the Sadar Bazar police station area of Indore on Wednesday night, and the entire episode was captured on a CCTV camera installed at the scene.

Following the incident, the victim, identified as Javed Khan, filed a complaint at the Sadar Bazar police station against the accused Congress leader, identified as Anwar Qadri, on Thursday. Sub Inspector Jayant Dutt Sharma of the Sadar Bazar police station stated, “Accused Qadri recently entered Javed Khan’s house with a licensed rifle and assaulted him. Consequently, on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered against Qadri under IPC sections 452, 323, 294, and 506.”

Sharma further mentioned that the accused was arrested on Friday and presented before the court of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Aditya Mishra, who subsequently remanded him to jail. The rifle was confiscated, and its license is slated for cancellation.

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Rajesh Dandotiya revealed that the accused Congress leader also visited the police station and presented a call recording in which Javed allegedly made several abusive calls to him. “A separate case was also registered against Javed based on his complaint under IPC Section 507,” added the police officer.
