Communist Party of India (CPI) Rajya Sabha MP Binoy Viswam has penned a letter to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, urging him to intervene and reinstate the reservation for single girl children in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs).
Viswam underscored the potential negative impact of discontinuing this reservation on the empowerment of women. He emphasized that the absence of such a reservation could hinder efforts to uplift and support girl children across the country.
In his letter, Viswam highlighted the removal of the option for selecting the single girl child quota from the online application forms for admissions in KVs. He emphasized the significance of this reservation, particularly in promoting small families and upholding the dignity of the girl child.
The MP expressed concern that the withdrawal of this reservation could undermine the principles of gender justice and quality education envisioned by the nation’s forefathers. He emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities for education to all children, irrespective of gender.
Viswam urged the Education Minister to take immediate action to reinstate the reservation for single girl children in KVs. He emphasized the crucial role of this reservation in promoting education among women and fostering gender equality in society.
The MP’s letter reflects a commitment to ensuring equitable access to education and empowering girl children across India. He urged swift action to address this issue and uphold the principles of inclusivity and gender justice in the education system.
