According to Iraj Elahi, Iran’s ambassador to India, Mohammad Reza Gharaei Ashtiani is scheduled to travel to India to attend the SCO Defence Ministers’ Meeting, which will take place next week. Addressing the event titled ‘Iran Army Day’ in Delhi, Elahi said, “I also hope that with the visit of the Honorable Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran to India to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Defence Ministers’ Meeting, the defence relations between the two countries will be further developed and strengthened in a dynamic bilateral and multilateral format.”
“I re-emphasise the message of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran which is peace, friendship and cooperation based on mutual respect,” he added.
The event’s chief guest was Lieutenant General Dinesh Singh Rana.
The Iranian Ambassador highlighted the essential tenets of the nation’s military defence strategy during the ceremony. He claimed that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s military strategy is entirely defensive and built on active deterrence. The Islamic Republic of Iran has demonstrated that it is not aggressive and will steadfastly repel any assault.
Elahi went on to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently highlighted the need for West Asia to be secure, and that it sees the presence and meddling of foreign nations as the root of the region’s instability.
Speaking at the occasion, he stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s delicate geopolitical position in the unstable region of West Asia has heightened the significance of the military forces in preserving the stability and security of this region.
Elahi continued, “Over the past century, the West Asian region has been plagued by instability and crises due to the occupation of the Palestinians and the uprooting of their oppressed people, the enormous oil riches of the Persian Gulf, and foreign meddling in this region.
