Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, arrived in Jammu on Saturday to assess the situation in the ongoing conflict between security forces and terrorists in the Kandi area of Rajouri. Upon the Union minister’s arrival, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Army Chief General Manoj Pande welcomed him. Singh will travel to Rajouri, where one soldier was killed in an explosion set off by terrorists during a Friday morning encounter with security forces.
The five soldiers were killed while participating in the Indian Army’s anti-terror “Operation Trinetra” with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF. Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, paid tribute to the five soldiers who died this morning.
Soldiers Lance Naik Ruchin Singh Rawat, Paratrooper Siddhant Chettri, Naik Arvind Kumar, Hav Neelam Singh, and Paratrooper Pramod Negi were among those who died in the incident. An ambush on an army truck in the Tota Gali neighbourhood of Bhata Dhurian in the Jammu region about a fortnight ago resulted in the deaths of another five soldiers. The Indian Army is now conducting operations to flush out the terrorists.
