Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival returns from the Vipassana before the ED summons

Accompanied by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal left the Vipassana meditation center on December 19

Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival returns from the Vipassana before the ED summons

After completion of a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal returned on Saturday, he expressed the profound peace gained from the practice and his experience there. In a post on X, he shared, “Returned today after 10 days of Vipassana meditation. This sadhana gives immense peace. From today onwards, we will again start serving the public with new energy.”

Accompanied by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal left the Vipassana meditation center on December 19. However, his return is marked by more challenges, as official sources indicate his likely appearance before the Enforcement Directorate on January 3 regarding the excise policy case.

On December 22, the ED issued a third summons to CM Kejriwal, directing him to appear on January 3 in connection with the excise policy case. The earlier summons on December 18 was missed by the Chief Minister, who claimed it was vague and politically motivated. The initial summons on November 2 was also ignored by Kejriwal, asserting that it lacked clarity and had political motivations.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had previously summoned Kejriwal in April, although he was not named as an accused in the FIR filed on August 17 the previous year. In February 2023, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia faced arrest by the CBI in connection with alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of Delhi’s now-scrapped excise policy, which was withdrawn amidst opposition allegations of foul play. The complex legal situation looms for Kejriwal, who is navigating both meditation-induced rejuvenation and impending legal obligations.
