In a significant development related to Delhi’s coaching centre deaths, the tis hazari court has dismissed the plea of four co-owners of the coaching center’s basement.

Further, while evaluating the appeal of co-owners—Parvinder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, and Sarbjit Singh against a previous denial of bail by a magisterial court, additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Kumar allowed the accused to submit a new bail plea to the appropriate CBI court.

Speaking about this judgment, co-owner lawyer Amit Chadha said ‘We will file a new bail plea today before the competent CBI court once we receive the written order from the court.’

Earlier on friday, the Delhi High Court transferred the investigation of the drowning incident from the Delhi Police to the CBI to ensure public confidence in the inquiry.

In addition, the high court asked the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to assign a senior officer to supervise the CBI investigation.

Meanwhile since July 27, students have been demonstrating for seven consecutive days, ever since 3 UPSC students have lost their lives.

Following this incident, MCD has closed the basements of various coaching centers in the area. As per  MCD officials, utilizing basements for commercial activities contravenes building bye-laws.
