Delhi Coaching Centre Tragedy: Student’s Body Taken Away After Post-Mortem

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai on Sunday said that the government has given instructions to speed up the investigation into the deaths of three students following flooding in a coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar.

The body of Shreya Yadav, one the three students who died in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar coaching centre incident, was taken away from the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after post-mortem on Sunday.

The students lost their lives after the basement of a coaching institute was filled with water on Saturday evening. According to the police, the victims have been identified as Shreya Yadav, a native of Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana; and Nivin Dalwin, a resident of Kerala’s Ernakulam.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra Yadav, relative of Shreya Yadav, demanded a case of culpable homicide be registered against the institute’s owner.

“Those who have given birth only know the value of life, and it shouldn’t be lost due to mismanagement. I demand that a case of culpable homicide should be lodged against the owner of the coaching institute,” Dharmendra, a relative of Shreya Yadav who died in the basement of a IAS coaching Centre due to flooding on Saturday.
Hours after the tragic incident Delhi police arrested two persons, the owner and coordinator of the IAS coaching centre.

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai on Sunday said that the government has given instructions to speed up the investigation into the deaths of three students following flooding in a coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar.

“It is very unfortunate the way the incident took place. For this, the government has given instructions to investigate it at a fast pace. An investigation is underway to find out the reason for this,” Rai said while speaking to ANI.

He further said that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has also given instructions to take immediate action against the illegal coaching institutes running in the basement of a building.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena also expressed anguish over the deaths and said the incident is “unfortunate and unacceptable.”

“I am deeply anguished by the deaths of 3 Civil Services aspirants due to water logging in the basement of a coaching centre and that of another student due to water logging related electrocution. That this should happen in the Capital of India is most unfortunate & unacceptable,” Delhi LG said in a post on X. The LG also directed the Divisional Commissioner to submit a report, covering every aspect of the tragic incident by Tuesday.
