The order in the case pertaining to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) requesting the remand of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, arrested by the agency in connection with the excise policy case, was reserved by Rouse Avenue Court on Monday.
The CBI detained Sisodia on Sunday and took him to Rouse Avenue Court for a five-day remand. The CBI’s attorney informed the court that the custodial interrogation of the Delhi Deputy CM is essential for an effective probe into the case.
While seeking five days’ remand of Sisodia, CBI said, “Conspiracy was hatched in a very planned and secret manner.”
Meanwhile, senior Advocate Dayan Krishnan appeared for Sisodia and opposed the remand application of CBI.
“if someone is not willing to say something, that cannot be a ground for arrest,” argued Sosodia’s lawyer.

The CBI issued a statement on Sisodia’s detention on Sunday, stating he was giving evasive answers and was not helping in the continuing investigation into the liquor scam.
The agency further stated that Sisodia had been called earlier on February 19 in connection with the ongoing investigation but had requested a week’s time due to the Delhi Budget.
