Delhi Metro Phase-IV: Rithala-Kundli Corridor, a ₹6,230 Crore Project – All You Need to Know

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of the 26.463-km Rithala-Kundli corridor under the Delhi Metro’s Phase-IV project. The decision was announced on Friday.

The new corridor, an extension of the operational Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda)-Rithala (Red Line) corridor, will include 21 elevated stations and connect key areas such as Narela, Bawana, and parts of Rohini.

The project is estimated to cost ₹6,230 crore and will be implemented by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), a 50:50 joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

This corridor will significantly enhance connectivity in the northwestern parts of Delhi and neighboring areas in Haryana, improving travel for thousands of daily commuters,”Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said during a press conference.

The Rithala-Kundli corridor is part of Delhi Metro’s broader Phase-IV development, which includes six planned corridors. Three of these were prioritized in 2019, covering 65.202 km and 45 stations.

Over 56% of construction on the priority corridors has been completed, with full completion expected by March 2026. Two additional corridors, spanning 20.762 km, are in pre-tendering stages.

Currently, DMRC operates 12 metro lines across Delhi and the National Capital Region, covering 392 km with 288 stations.

The Rithala-Kundli extension will further expand the network, improving connectivity across the Delhi NCR region.

The new corridor will also link Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh with Nathupur in Haryana.
