The Air Quality Index (AQI) scale provides a clear way to gauge air quality, with various categories indicating different levels of pollution. An AQI reading falling between 0 and 50 is considered “good,” while 51 to 100 is categorized as “satisfactory.” The range of 101 to 200 is labeled “moderate,” 201 to 300 signifies “poor,” 301 to 400 represents “very poor,” and 401 to 450 is designated as “severe.”

This classification system simplifies the communication of air quality status to the public, offering a straightforward way to understand the current state of the air. The six AQI categories include: Good, Satisfactory, Moderately Polluted, Poor, Very Poor, and Severe.
