Kanhaiya Kumar Vs. Devendra Fadnavis: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responded to accusations from what he referred to as Congress’ “troll army” targeting his wife, stating that any civilized individual would be ashamed of such actions.
Fadnavis shared with news agencies that he had advised his wife to remain patient, emphasizing that while lies might persist briefly, the truth will eventually prevail. He added that those responsible for creating memes and writing disrespectful comments about his wife should reflect on their behavior and feel embarrassed.
He further criticized the opposition’s actions, highlighting their inappropriate remarks and memes targeting his wife. He expressed that such conduct should cause them to reconsider their actions and suggested that if one wishes to challenge him, it should be done directly.
Fadnavis also noted that he and his wife had endured much over the past five years. He pointed out that despite exhaustive investigations into every aspect of his life, from his hair to his nails, the opposition found no evidence against him. Unable to find anything substantial, they resorted to personal attacks, he said.
His comments followed a remark from Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who questioned whether Fadnavis’ wife was making Instagram reels while the common people fought for “dharma.” Kumar made the statement during a rally in Nagpur South West, where he also claimed that the children of political leaders study abroad, far removed from the issues faced by ordinary citizens.
Earlier, Fadnavis had called for Hindu unity and urged voters to take part in a ‘vote dharmyudh’ to counter what he described as ‘vote jihad’—a term he used to suggest a coordinated effort by members of a particular community to withhold their votes from the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections. He claimed this pattern in Malegaon contributed to the Mahayuti’s defeat in the Dhule Lok Sabha seat.
The Maharashtra elections, set for November 20, will see the ruling Mahayuti alliance, consisting of the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, face off against the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, led by Congress, Shiv Sena, and NCP.
