Digvijaya Singh: Kamal Nath Stays with Congress

In response to speculation surrounding the potential defection of Kamal Nath, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and prominent Congress figure, to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress leader Digvijaya Singh asserted on Tuesday that Kamal Nath remains loyal to the Congress party. Singh emphasized that Kamal Nath has always been and will continue to be an integral part of the Congress.

Singh also called upon the media to abstain from spreading misinformation. “Kamal Nath is, has been, and will remain within the Indian National Congress. Modi godi media should cease disseminating falsehoods,” he stated in a post on ‘X’.

Political circles were abuzz on Saturday with speculation that Kamal Nath, along with his son Nakul Nath, a Member of Parliament from Chhindwara, might align with the BJP. This speculation gained traction after a post shared by former Congress leader and BJP state spokesperson Narendra Saluja depicted a photo of Kamal Nath with Nakul Nath captioned as ‘Jai Shree Ram’.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation from Kamal Nath’s side regarding any switch. When questioned about the rumors, Kamal Nath dismissed them, stating that the media would be notified “if there is something.”

“Why is everyone getting worked up? I will inform you all if there is any truth to these claims,” Kamal Nath remarked on Saturday while addressing the media.

Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh, Umang Singhar, dismissed the speculation about Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath joining the BJP as mere rumors.

“All of these are rumors. He (Kamal Nath) has never indicated that he is joining the BJP. He is a senior leader, former CM, and a valuable asset to the party. All the MLAs are in support of him. He (Nath) has also stated several times that he is like a third son of Indira Gandhi. He comprehends this and is a very serious personality. I don’t believe he has ever entertained the rumors circulating in the media,” Sources
