DRI Seizes Over 9 kg of Cocaine Worth 100 Crores, Arrests Four in Mumbai

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Mumbai has intercepted 9.829 kg of cocaine valued at around 100 crores in the illicit market. The operation led to the apprehension of two female passengers hailing from Indonesia and Thailand, who arrived from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Following intensive interrogation and swift data analysis, it was revealed that the narcotics were intended for smuggling by a syndicate operating out of Delhi and its vicinity. To dismantle the network, DRI teams took immediate action.

While one team stationed in Mumbai initiated surveillance on syndicate activities, another team was dispatched to Delhi to apprehend key members. The operation in Delhi led to the successful interception of an African national, believed to be a key figure in the syndicate.

In a dramatic turn of events, the mastermind attempted to evade arrest by resorting to violence, pushing DRI officers during a confrontation. Despite sustaining minor injuries, the officers managed to apprehend the Nigerian mastermind and his accomplice after a high-speed chase in Greater Noida.

Both the apprehended syndicate members and the two passengers were arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, by the DRI Mumbai. The operation underscores DRI’s commitment to combatting drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of communities.
