EAM S Jaishankar said on Tuesday that the situation is being closely monitored in the aftermath of a tragic Texas shooting that killed eight people, including an Indian national.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Tuesday that the situation is being closely monitored in the aftermath of a tragic Texas shooting that killed eight people, including an Indian national.

The EAM said that he is taking regular updates from India’s envoy to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu and that the consulate is providing the necessary assistance to the bereaved. “Closely tracking this and taking regular updates from Ambassador @SandhuTaranjitS. Consulate is rendering all necessary assistance to the bereaved family and to those injured,” the EAM tweeted.

An official said that a 27-year-old woman from Telangana’s Ranga Reddy was among the eight people killed in a shooting at Allen Mall in Texas, US, on May 6.

The deceased was identified as Aishwarya Thatikonda, the district judge’s daughter from Ranga Reddy. Aishwarya Thatikonda and seven other people were killed in a mass shooting in Texas. Aishwarya Thatikonda moved to the United States a few years ago to work as a project manager.

The official Twitter handle of the Consulate General in Houston stated that it is assisting in the completion of necessary formalities regarding the deceased’s mortal remains.

“Two other Indian nationals have been injured in the tragic shooting incident. We are in constant touch with the local & hospital authorities, relatives of the injured and community leaders. Consulate officials are in Dallas to render all possible assistance,” the Consulate General in Houston tweeted.
