Ravi Shankar Prasad’s remark on ED summons to Arvind Kejriwal

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Shankar Prasad has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of self-destruction, labeling it as the most significant disappointment in Indian political history. Speaking at a press conference in the national capital, Prasad asserted that while AAP alleges that the central government is out to eliminate them, they are, in fact, undermining themselves.

Prasad stated, “If you make mistakes and engage in corruption, and an investigation is launched, you have an issue with it.” He also noted that Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP leader, has not offered any clarification on the alleged scam.

Highlighting the situation, Prasad pointed out that all AAP leaders, including Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh, initially claimed the entire scandal was false. However, Sisodia has been in jail since February, with his bail rejected by lower and higher courts, including the Supreme Court.

Prasad further alleged that such a massive scam could not have occurred without the clear approval of Arvind Kejriwal. Previously, AAP had accused the central BJP government of trying to eliminate the party, using the latest summons as evidence of this alleged plot.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had summoned Arvind Kejriwal for questioning on November 2 in connection with the Delhi Excise policy case. Kejriwal had also been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) earlier in April, even though he was not named as an accused in the initial FIR filed by the CBI.

The Supreme Court recently dismissed Manish Sisodia’s bail plea in cases related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy case. However, the court ordered the trial in the case to be completed within six to eight months, allowing Sisodia to reapply for bail if the trial progresses slowly. The court also took note of the potential money trail of 338 crore rupees in the case.
