On Wednesday, the Election Commission of India rescheduled the Rajasthan Assembly elections, moving the voting dates from November 23 to November 25. This decision came in response to requests from several political parties, and social organizations, with concerns expressed on various media platforms.
The concerns included the potential disruption caused by a high number of weddings and social events on the original date, which could inconvenience many people and lead to logistical challenges, potentially reducing voter turnout.
In light of these factors and the representations received, the Election Commission has chosen to change the polling date from November 23, 2023 (Thursday) to November 25, 2023 (Saturday). Vote counting will occur on December 3.
Earlier, the Election Commission had announced the election schedule for Assembly polls in Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana, stating that the Rajasthan Assembly polls would take place on November 23.
