Faridabad and surrounding areas in Haryana experienced two minor earthquakes on Thursday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The initial tremor struck at 10:54 am, registering a magnitude of 2.4 with a depth of 5 kilometers. A second tremor, also of magnitude 2.4, occurred at approximately 11:43 am.
The NCS, which is the Union government’s nodal agency for monitoring seismic activity in India, confirmed the earthquakes. Fortunately, no casualties or significant damage have been reported as a result of these tremors.
“An earthquake of magnitude 2.4 hit Faridabad, Haryana at 10:54 am,” stated an NCS spokesperson. The center continues to monitor the situation to assess any further impact.
This incident follows a previous earthquake in Haryana’s Sirsa region, which struck in April with a magnitude of 3.2. The region’s seismic activity remains under close observation as authorities work to ensure public safety.
