First Government Order Issued By Arvind Kejriwal While In Enforcement Directorate Custody

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has made his first official directive to the government while in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), according to sources within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Despite being under arrest, Kejriwal has taken action on a matter concerning the Water Ministry, signaling his commitment to addressing the needs of the people of Delhi.

The order issued by Kejriwal, conveyed via a note, focuses on addressing water and sewer issues in certain areas of the city. This directive was revealed by Delhi Minister Atishi during a press conference held at 10 am today, providing insights into Kejriwal’s ongoing involvement in governance even while in custody.

“Atishi said while reading out the order sent by him, ‘From ED custody, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has expressed concerns over water and sewer issues in some areas of the city. He has directed to deploy enough water tankers in areas facing scarcity,'” reported AAP sources. This move underscores Kejriwal’s prioritization of the welfare of Delhi’s residents, even amid personal challenges.

Furthermore, the order emphasizes Kejriwal’s proactive approach to governance, as he urges authorities to take necessary steps to alleviate the water scarcity issue, especially with the approaching summer season. The directive also highlights Kejriwal’s willingness to collaborate with other authorities, including the Lieutenant Governor, to ensure effective governance and address pressing issues faced by the city.

Kejriwal’s arrest by the ED on March 21, in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy case, has not deterred his commitment to serving the people of Delhi. Despite being remanded to the ED’s custody until March 28 for interrogation regarding his alleged involvement in the liquor scam, Kejriwal has refrained from tendering his resignation as Chief Minister.

The AAP has reiterated its stance that Kejriwal will continue to fulfill his duties as Chief Minister, even if it means governing from jail. “We have said earlier that if needed, Kejriwal will run the government from jail. He can run the government as no rule can prevent him from doing that. He has not been convicted, and so he will remain as the Delhi Chief Minister,” affirmed Atishi.

This steadfast commitment to governance amidst legal challenges reflects Kejriwal’s determination to serve the people of Delhi and uphold his responsibilities as Chief Minister. Despite facing legal scrutiny, Kejriwal remains focused on addressing the needs of his constituents and ensuring effective governance.

The episode also sheds light on the broader issue of political leadership during legal proceedings. Kejriwal’s decision to continue governing while in custody raises questions about the extent to which legal matters should impact the functioning of elected officials and their ability to serve the public interest.

As the situation unfolds, Kejriwal’s actions will continue to be closely monitored, with his directives and decisions scrutinized for their impact on governance and public welfare. Regardless of the legal outcome, Kejriwal’s tenure as Chief Minister during this period will likely be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his constituents and his dedication to addressing their concerns.
