On Monday, the flood situation in most of the districts in Assam remained severe as the water levels of the Brahmaputra River continued to surge in various areas.
More than 32,400 people have been affected so far, according to the Assam Disaster Management Department (ASDMA), and the situation remains dire in Biswanth district. ASDMA said 22,417 people were affected in the Gopur income circle area and nearly 10,000 people in the Harem income circle area.

Officials said an estimated 19,379 people were affected in the Golaghat district, 13,000 in the Demaji district, 12,000 in Majuli district, 12,855 in Dibrugarh district, 6,218 in Chiran district and Dubri district. 3,336 people were affected, while 3,135 people were affected in Shivasagar district. Rescue teams and local authorities are working on relief efforts in flood-affected areas in Assam. In the last 24 hours, flooding has damaged three dams, 42 roads, ditches, irrigation canals, Anganwadi centers and school buildings in several flood-affected districts.
