Former CM Hemant Soren’s Sister in Law, Sita Soren Joins BJP

Sita Soren, the Jama MLA in Jharkhand and sister-in-law of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, made headlines as she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday. Her decision came after resigning from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and tendering her resignation from the membership of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.

In her resignation letter to the Jharkhand Assembly speaker, Sita Soren cited “many circumstances” within the party and emphasized that her decision was a matter of morality. She expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of respect she felt she deserved after serving the JMM for 14 years, claiming that she had not received due recognition for her efforts.

Sita Soren also highlighted her trust in BJP leaders such as JP Nadda, Amit Shah, and Devendra Fadnavis, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity and India’s rising global stature as factors influencing her decision to join the BJP.

Meanwhile, JMM leaders expressed disappointment over Sita Soren’s departure, with Manoj Pandey expressing hope that she would reconsider. Mahua Maji, another JMM leader, remarked on the party’s shock and emphasized the need for patience during this challenging time.

The political landscape in Jharkhand is heating up as the BJP has already named candidates for 11 out of 14 seats, while the INDIA bloc is yet to announce its candidates. The state is set to witness voting in four phases from May 13 to June 1.

The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand hold significant importance, with BJP aiming to maintain its dominance after winning 11 seats in the 2019 elections. The Congress, JMM, and ASJU each secured one seat in the previous election.

With the voting scheduled from April 19 to June 1 and the counting of votes slated for June 4, Jharkhand’s political landscape is poised for further developments as parties gear up for the electoral battle ahead.
