Several parts of the Kashmir valley experienced a fresh bout of snowfall, creating picturesque scenes across the region. Amid the heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag, CRPF jawans came to the aid of stranded vehicles, offering assistance to navigate through the challenging conditions.
Gulmarg, renowned for its captivating winter vistas, has been attracting attention from international skiers and adventure enthusiasts following the recent snowfall in the higher elevations of the valley. The snow-clad landscape of Gulmarg showcases the untouched beauty of nature, with its sprawling meadows serving as an idyllic playground for those seeking exhilarating downhill descents.

On Sunday, authorities took the precautionary measure of closing the Srinagar-Leh Highway due to heavy snow accumulation at Baltal in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal District. Meanwhile, the Pir Panjal range in Poonch district also witnessed fresh snowfall on the same day.
Further north, the Gurez Valley in Bandipora district woke up to a fresh blanket of snow on Sunday morning, adding to the region’s scenic allure.
In neighboring Himachal Pradesh, snowfall was reported on Monday, leading to disruptions in traffic along the Manali-Leh Highway and Aut-Luhri National Highway. The picturesque town of Manali, known for its charm as a backpacking hub and winter retreat, was enveloped in a thick layer of snow, transforming it into a winter wonderland.
In response to the challenging weather conditions, authorities in Himachal Pradesh took proactive measures, including halting tourist movement in higher altitudes and issuing advisories to visitors.
The cityscapes, draped in pristine white, exuded an ethereal charm, with frosted tree branches adding to the enchanting scenery against the snowy backdrop.
Earlier forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh from February 18 to 20, with Uttarakhand experiencing similar conditions on February 19 and 20. These predictions underscored the need for residents and travelers to remain vigilant and prepared for the ongoing weather fluctuations across the region.
