A video of fugitive radical preacher Amritpal Singh surfaced on social media on Wednesday, in which he criticized the Punjab Police for arresting Sikh youths during its crackdown against him. Khalistani militant Amritpal is planning to surrender at the Golden Temple.
Dressed in a black turban and shawl, the Khalistan supporter said in the video that if the state government had intended to arrest him, the police could have come to his house. He added, “God saved us from the ‘millions of police’ sent to arrest us.”
The video came amid reports that Amritpal may surrender. Police have launched a massive operation against Amritpal Singh and members of his organization ‘Waris Punjab De’. Recently, Amritpal escaped after dodging the police when his convoy was stopped in the Jalandhar district.
The radical preacher criticized the Punjab Police. He criticized the arrest of Sikh youths during the crackdown. Amritpal Singh said that if the Punjab government had intended to arrest me, the police could have come to my house, and I would have agreed. According to media reports, Khalistani militant Amritpal plans to surrender at the Golden Temple. On the other hand, another media report claimed that Amritpal was staying in the room of a DU student in Delhi. This girl student had met her colleague Papalpreet during the demonstration of farmers in Delhi.
Amritpal Singh released a video statement on Wednesday amid reports that he will surrender and face the law. The Punjab Police has been seeking the absconding radical preacher since March 18. There is widespread speculation and reports of his surrender before the Akal Takht in Bathinda.
