At least two wagons of a goods train derailed near Tupkadih station in Bokaro, Jharkhand, causing significant disruption to rail traffic, an official reported on Thursday. The incident, which occurred around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, resulted in the diversion of 15 trains, including 14 express services.
The goods train was transporting a steel consignment from Bokaro Steel Plant when two of its wagons overturned on the main line between Tupkadih and Bokaro stations. Sumit Narula, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Adra division of South Eastern Railway, confirmed the derailment, saying, “Two wagons carrying steel derailed near Tupkadih station around 9 p.m. last night. We have diverted 15 trains from the affected route.”
The derailment occurred near the northern cabin yard of Tupkadih station, impacting train operations on the Bokaro-Gomo section. While one of the affected lines has been restored, efforts are underway to repair the other line and resume normal train movement, Narula added.
