Haryana Exit Polls 2024: LIVE UPDATES, When And Where To Watch

The Haryana assembly elections is all set to start on October 5, 2024, 7am onwards. The polling in Haryana is for 90 assembly seats. The results for both Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir will be announced on October 8.

Ahead of the vote count, political analysts and citizens will eagerly await the exit poll predictions, which will give a glimpse into the potential outcomes of the elections in these states.

The Exit Poll Results

As per the Election Commission’s notification, exit polls for Haryana can only be published after voting concludes.

The commission has directed that no exit poll data should be aired before 6 p.m. on October 5, ensuring that voters can cast their ballots without being swayed by early predictions.

What Is Exit Poll?

Exit polls provide an estimation of election results based on surveys conducted among voters after they exit polling booths. Several news channels and polling agencies are expected to release their predictions following the voting on October 5, offering insights into the potential political shift in both Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir. The Jammu & Kashmir election took place in three phases, concluding on October 1, while Haryana’s one-day voting will bring the current electoral cycle to an end.

The Election Commission has strict guidelines regarding the release of exit polls. These restrictions are enforced to maintain the integrity of the electoral process and ensure that voters make informed decisions based on the campaign and candidates, rather than being influenced by early predictions. Any violation of these rules can result in legal penalties, including fines or imprisonment. The commission’s restriction applies across all media platforms, including TV, radio, online news portals, and social media platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram.

The Chief Electoral Officer, along with other election officials and law enforcement, is responsible for monitoring compliance with these rules. The guidelines aim to ensure a fair and transparent election, providing voters with a space free of undue influence, ensuring that the democratic process remains unhindered.
