HP Cloudburst: Search For Missing 36 People Continues, Rescue Operation Ongoing

Following the occurrence of a cloudburst, the Indian army has ramped up its efforts at rescue and restoration works in the impacted areas at HP’s Rampur’s Samej.

Informing ANI, Home Guard Commandant RP Nepta revealed that rescue operations began at 7 am in Rampur’s Samej.

Additionally, he also revealed that five JCBs have been deployed and various teams are collaborating to recover as many bodies as possible.

‘This is the fourth day of operations. After a review meeting yesterday, we are now working intensively. Five JCBs are in use today, and task forces have been assigned specific roles. We started the search at 7 am and are optimistic about recovering bodies today. Locals have provided information on potential locations for finding bodies, and we will search these areas as well. Additionally, we are constructing a bridge said RP Nepta.

Meanwhile, temporary bridges have already been established by the Army to reconnect isolated areas and facilitate rescue operations.

Other teams like NDRF, SDRF, Home Guard, and CISF are working together to conduct the rescue and search efforts.

Talking about the rescue operation, RP Nepta said ‘NDRF, CISF, Army, and Home Guard teams are present, and we hope to recover the maximum number of bodies today. The three recovered bodies have not yet been identified, so we are displaying them to the public. Relief efforts are also underway. Currently, 36 people are reported missing.’

Earlier on saturday, Himachal Pradesh minister Vikramaditya Singh revealed that around 50 people are feared dead in the affected areas. The official death toll will be confirmed only after the completion of rescue operations. Singh emphasized that the state government’s top priority is to recover the bodies and restore connectivity in the affected regions as quickly as possible.
