IAF fighter aircraft crashes in Rajasthan: 2 women dead, 1 man injured

An IAF fighter aircraft MiG-21 crashed on top of two civilian homes in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, on Monday morning, killing two people, according to the police.

The IAF added that a military helicopter had arrived at the accident scene for rescue operations and that the aircraft’s pilot had ejected safely with only minor injuries. The incident happened in Bahlolnagar, according to Sudheer Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police (SP), Hanumangarh.

The MiG crashed on top of their house, killing two women and injuring one man, according to the police official.

The crashed aircraft was on its way to a routine training mission when it took off from Suratgarh.
To determine the reason for the accident, the Indian Air Force has called for a court of inquiry.

The MiG-21 fleet is on its last legs, and by 2025, all three of the fleet’s remaining aircraft are expected to be stolen. One pilot was killed earlier in January when two IAF fighter jets, a Sukhoi-30 and a Mirage 2000, collided during a training exercise.

One plane went down in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, and the other went down and landed in Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
