Manish Sisodia’s bail hearing is going on in Delhi court. During this, Manish Sisodia’s lawyer told the court that Sisodia cooperated in the investigation and no incriminating documents were found in the search operation. During the bail hearing, the lawyer said there was no need for custodial interrogation and no flight risk for him.
The lawyer said there is no documentary evidence against him of taking a bribe, adding that the change in excise policy was purely a routine process. The lawyer said that the change in the excise policy was taken up with the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and the Finance Secretary, among others.
Sisodia’s counsel said that the punishment for the alleged offence is less than seven years, and keeping him in jail for more days was not justified.
To this, the CBI told the court that with Sisodia holding an “unprecedented” 18 portfolios, there could be no flight risk, but there was a risk of destruction of evidence. The CBI counsel told the court that the probe agency has 60 days to file the chargesheet, and the investigation may be affected if Sisodia comes out.
