In a high-level review meeting held on Friday, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, convened with senior officers from various security wings to address recent developments, current challenges, and strategies to counter the anti-national issues taking place. This meeting underscores the ongoing commitment to maintaining peace and security across the region, according to an official police statement.
“IGP Kashmir emphasised the need to review and enhance the security plans and to design effective counter-insurgency strategies for smooth and peaceful conduct of the forthcoming events,” the statement highlighted.
The IGP stressed the importance of increasing surveillance on anti-national elements and expanding area dominance within their respective jurisdictions. These steps are crucial to preemptively address potential threats and ensure public safety.
“He also stressed the need to enhance the security of vulnerable targets and to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming events. He also directed the district heads to closely monitor social media platforms to prevent any attempt to spread misinformation impacting public safety and order,” the statement continued.
A significant directive from the IGP included the intensification of cordon and search operations, particularly in sensitive areas of the valley and along the National Highways. This measure aims to thwart any insurgent activities and secure critical transit routes.
The meeting concluded with a unified commitment to ensuring heightened vigilance, improved coordination, and the effective implementation of security measures.
