The third meeting of the I.N.D.I.A (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) alliance concluded in Mumbai on Friday, September 1, 2023. The meeting was attended by leaders of 28 opposition parties, including the Congress, the NCP, the TMC, the RJD, the SP, the AAP, and the DMK. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss the alliance’s strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The third meeting of the opposition bloc was hosted by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the three-party alliance of the Congress, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the NCP led by Sharad Pawar. The first meeting of the joint opposition was held in Patna on June 23 and the second meeting was held in Bengaluru on July 17-18. 

COMMITTEE

The opposition INDIA alliance on Friday finalised a 14-member committee comprising members of various parties that will function as the bloc’s highest decision making body and will start work on seat sharing immediately. The 14-member Coordination Committee and Election Strategy Committee includes KC Venugopal (INC), Sharad Pawar (NCP), TR Baalu (DMK), Hemant Soren (JMM), Sanjay Raut (SS-UBT), Tejashwi Yadav (RJD), Abhishek Banerjee (TMC), Raghav Chadha (AAP), Javed Ali Khan (SP), Lalan Singh (JDU), D Raja (CPI), Omar Abdullah (NC), Mehbooba Mufti (PDP), one more member from CPI(M) to also be announced.

RESOLUTIONS

The INDIA parties also passed three important resolutions at the meet.

1.INDIA parties hereby resolve to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections together as far as possible. Seat-sharing arrangements in different states will be initiated immediately and concluded at the earliest in a collaborative spirit of give and take.
2. INDIA parties hereby resolve to organise public rallies at the earliest in different parts of the country on issues of public concern and importance.

3. INDIA alliance also decided to coordinate among themselves on political communication and media strategies and will campaign with the theme ‘Judega Bharat, Jiteega India’ in different languages.

 The next key meeting of the Opposition INDIA alliance will be held in the National capital, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Supriya Sule said after the conclusion of the third meet in Mumbai on Friday.
