In a recent development related to the Russia-Ukraine war, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently revealed, that the Indian government is sharing information with both parties to explore possibilities for ending the war and initiating serious negotiations.

Additionally, he also noted, that India is sharing insights from its conversations with each side. Speaking during a discussion at Asia Society Policy Institute in New York, Jaishankar said “This is a kind of exploration that we have been doing. I mean, it’s not that we have a peace plan.”

He further emphasized that the Russia-Ukraine conflict cannot be resolved through military means and noted that both parties appreciate this approach. “Not many countries or leaders are willing or able to engage both sides.” said Jaishankar.

These comments followed a conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.  Recently, PM Modi visited Kyiv in late August and subsequently spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Joe Biden.
